The Initiative to “Stay United, Fight the ‘Epidemic’ with Science and Technology, and Win the Battle of Epidemic Prevention and Control Together”
At the very beginning of 2020, the world witnessed as the sudden outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic forced our familiar way of life to come to a complete halt. Nevertheless, everything essential to our survival kept moving onwards; following the decisions and arrangements of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, we have already begun a battle of concerted efforts to prevent the spread of the epidemic and bring it under control.
There are no bystanders in this nationwide battle against the “epidemic.” Robots, once alien to us, are now symbiotic with human life. Robots now join humans in using the power of science and technology to race against time and face up to this disease, and have built a technological great wall of “steel and iron” for the heroes bravely putting themselves in harm’s way. Noting that epidemic prevention and control is at a critical stage, the Secretariat of WRC’s Organizing Committee, sci-tech institutions, and enterprises will now address the following joint initiative:
First, holding fast to our faith and fighting with solidarity. We will go wherever the epidemic is, and fight it into submission. We will always stand with our colleagues who combat the epidemic, and resolve to win the battle of epidemic prevention and control. We will act vigorously, work conscientiously and earnestly, hold fast to our faith, take the initiative to take measures, adopt a science-based approach in preventing the epidemic, stay united, and contribute wisdom and power to win this battle.
Second, fortifying the strongholds and joining hands to overcome the pandemic. The battle of epidemic prevention and control is a war without the smoke of gunpowder. We will give full play to the role of science and technology in preventing and controlling the epidemic. We are eager to provide assistance and support for all the front-line colleagues fighting the virus. We will remain steadfast in ensuring a coordinated response to the COVID-19 epidemic, and together we will strive to make China a strong line of defense through mass prevention and mass treatment.
Third, standing by our posts and jointly overcoming the challenges. Science and technology provide powerful support for prevailing over the epidemic. In this battle against the virus, we feel a strong sense of responsibility to our mission, every worker will stand by his or her post, working day and night to develop technologies related to fighting the epidemic, spare no effort to produce tech products that could support and serve this battle, actively resume work and production, and be fully devoted to the front line of preventing and controlling the epidemic.
Fourth, coordinating our efforts and aspiring for the future. We breathe the same air and share a common fate. Sci-tech institutions and enterprises will shoulder the heavy burden together, advance forward hand in hand, and break technological barriers. With regards to protecting intellectual property, we will actively explore and integrate technologies and products, promptly apply scientific and research findings to the front line of the epidemic, and pool our wisdom and strength to win this ongoing battle.
Spring is here, the breeze is balmy and the sun is warm. We always believe that spring flowers will bloom when the sun dispels the haze. We call on more sci-tech institutions and enterprises to join us, and we look forward to receiving requests made from our colleagues on the front lines. Hand in hand and heart to heart, we will be united and spare no effort to overcome the pandemic together!
