在人工智能研究院的支持下，智能机器人研究中心成立，中心不仅联合了清华大学计算机系、清华大学机械工程系、清华大学自动化系等校内机器人研究的优势单位，同时也与德国汉堡大学开展国际合作。智能机器人研究中心将秉承人工智能研究院的宗旨，开拓创新，把中心办成有在国内外有影响力的智能机器人研究机构。智能机器人研究中心近年的主要研究内容包括：
